GLen Esk Corriedale stud
In 2016 Glen Esk Stud was put up for tender and was purchased by myself (Rick Hoolihan) and Melina. I already had been running the family Corriedale Stud “Rose-Lea” for 15 years and seen the Glen Esk sheep as ideal fit for his operation.
Glen Esk produce sheep that are true to type, Ewes cut an average of 6kg fleece weight, micron 25-28 and are Corriedales with carcass. Glen Esk are suited from high rainfall country in the east to Western Victoria.
Glen Esk has had a successful time showing in NSW since moving from Tasmania winning Grand Champion Corriedale Ram at the Sydney Royal in 2017 and 2018, 2019 Supreme Corriedale Exhibit NSW Sheep Show Dubbo and champion ribbons at other NSW shows. Also winning Australian Champion Corriedale Fleece in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
Glen Esk’s present breeding strength is 131 stud ewes. About 50 rams are available in September and October. We are now using LambPlan to assist us in the breeding program, focusing birth weight, negative micron, positive fat score, fleece and body weight.
I would like to congratulate the RONA Youth Expo Committee for the initiative to put this competition online. I also wish all the entrants from where ever you are from the very best.

Liberton corriedale stud
Liberton Corriedales aims to produce the highest production per head of fleece wool on a big framed very easily managed typical Corriedale sheep, free of fly strike and lambing problems. The stud was established in 1927 by Mr. W.R. Venters and his sons in "Dalkeith" Stonehaven. Jim and Brenda Venters are now known for their dedication and promotion of the Corriedale breed over many years and consistent encouragement of junior members, schools and colleges.
Sweetfield corriedale stud
Sweetfield Corriedale Stud has been breeding award-winning Corriedales since 1998. Based at Mount Moriac, west
of Geelong, our aim is to breed Corriedales of an excellent standard and
sustain the breed’s true features For us, this means a good
carcase and body structure, a heavy and bright fleece with a long, dense staple,
as well as renowned mothering and self-replacing abilities.
We are a self-replacing flock, only purchasing new rams every few years. We select good carcase and eye muscle
traits, as well as bold character and softness in the wool. As Corriedales are a
dual-purpose breed, it’s very important to have these qualities in today’s
industry.
Stud principal Bron Ellis is passionate about supporting youth involvement in agriculture, especially the
sheep industry. We congratulate the 2020 Rona Youth Sheep Expo organisers on
their initiative and creativity to connect agriculture’s next generation during
these challenging times.

Dianella poll dorset stud
Dianella Poll Dorset Stud is located within the Macedon Ranges Region and was founded and registered in 2020. The stud owner and manager, Josh Poulton, is a current year twelve student at Salesian College Sunbury and has been heavily involved with the school’s Poll Dorset and Corriedale enterprises which influenced him into founding a stud of his own. Unfortunately, amidst the COVID-19 circumstances, Dianella could not debut in the show ring this year. However, with a promising April 2020 drop, Josh and his team are excited to exhibit their rams in the showring in 2021 and look forward to seeing the youth involvement in the ‘2020 Rona Youth Expo’.
